Bed-ridden woman in urgent need of rescue
Nettie Williams is an 80-year-old woman who is in desperate need of rescue in northeast Houston.

HOUSTON, Texas -- An 80-year-old stroke victim photographed with rising water lapping over her hospital bed has been rescued in northeast Houston.

Nettie Williams is bedridden and was expecting help to arrive last night, but it never came to her home in the Lakewood subdivision.

Her daughter Shirley told Eyewitness News the water was up to her mother's knees, beginning to reach above her mattress when rescuers got to her.

It was not immediately clear who was able to come to their aid, but this could have turned out very different.

Shirley said she couldn't leave her mom's side, out of fear something might happen to her.

The Coast Guard tried to get to her last night, but it was apparently so dark, they couldn't see their house.

Shirley said she tied a white towel to their mailbox, in an effort to make the house stand out. But, apparently it didn't work.

There is no word yet on where Williams and her daughter were taken.
