Prostate cancer is one of the most common forms of the disease in men, yet one many choose not to talk about.

CHICAGO - Prostate cancer is one of the most common forms of the disease in men, yet one many choose not to talk about. More than 161,000 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2017. But on Sunday, September 10, 2017, survivors, their friends and families will come together to raise awareness and funding at the 13th Annual SEA Blue Chicago Prostate Cancer Walk & Run (www.SeaBlueProstateWalk.org). Individuals and teams participate in a 5K race certified by the Chicago Area Runners Association (CARA) or a celebration walk through Lincoln Park. Along with the walk and run, the event also includes information sessions with doctors, free testing, live performances, and a family fun zone.

SEA Blue will take place from 8 am to noon, in Lincoln Park at LaSalle and Stockton on Chicago's lakefront. Money raised will help fund the work of Us TOO International (www.ustoo.org), a nonprofit that provides educational resources and support services to the prostate cancer community at no charge. Chuck Strand, the CEO of US Too International, and SEA Blue volunteer Lori O'Connor sat down with Eyewitness News to talk about the upcoming event and why bringing awareness is so important.
