Officers responded around 3 p.m. on Dec. 28, 2016, to the shoreline in the 1100-block of Sheridan Road in Somers, Wis., where remains that appeared to be human had been discovered, the sheriff's office said.
The remains were sent to the University of North Texas Center for Human Identification for an anthropologic exam. DNA collected during the examination and family members helped identify the remains as those of Jonce Robinson, Jr., a 38-year-old man from Waukegan, Ill.
The manner and cause of death are undetermined, authorities said.
The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) is an important resource for those looking for loved ones who have gone missing, the sheriff's office said.
