On Thursday, the special grand jury investigating Stacy Peterson's disappearance reconvened. They heard testimony from Drew Peterson's son, 28-year-old Steve Peterson who is a patrolman for the Oakbrook Police Department. This is the second time he has testified.
ABC News has learned that Peterson and a close friend purchased three blue containers from a cable company four years ago.
A search warrant issued last week for Peterson's two vehicles mentions "blue plastic" and "scuff marks" left by a "large storage container," lending credence to reports that investigators think Peterson, 53, might have loaded into his SUV a blue container holding the body of his 23-year-old wife, Stacy.
Ric Mims, Peterson's long-time friend, told a grand jury last week that he and Peterson bought three such containers for about $100 from AmeriCable, where they both worked part-time in 2003, according to a source close to the investigation. Peterson put two of the containers on a shelf in his garage, but after Stacy vanished, so did the containers, Mims testified.
"I noticed that two of the containers were no longer in Peterson's garage," said Pamela Bosco, family spokesperson.
Drew Peterson's attorney says he didn't have any blue containers in his home.
"Stacy's sister insists there was a blue barrel of chlorine. Now there is a blue container of cable. The story is not consistent throughout," said Joel Brodsky, Drew Peterson's attorney.
Stacy Peterson's family met with state police for about three hours Wednesday. A family spokesperson would not divulge details but says it is encouraging.
"State police are doing what they can to make it a nice, tight package and make sure everything is done correctly," said
Drew Peterson had no comments on the search for his wife or the reports about the blue container, but he did say he hopes the judge will return his personal belongings. Police seized two of his vehicles, computers and 11 guns during four searches of his Bolingbrook home over the last month.
Peterson also said he knows his son, Steve, would prefer to be left alone by investigators.
