During the promotion from Jan. 2-16, patrons who extend the complimentary two-week period into a January-March 2008 winter-session membership can join at a discounted rate. These new members will also receive a complimentary Get Fit Bag stuffed with a water bottle and a towel that is only offered during this two-week period.
Membership rates to the Chicago Park District's fitness centers are affordable and range from $40-$75 for three-months, a fraction of the cost of commercial gyms.
The Chicago Park District currently operates 55 fitness centers featuring state-of-the-art equipment including: computerized treadmills, cross trainers, upright and recumbent bicycles, free weights and benches, cable crossovers, multi-station weight machines and core-focused weight equipment.
The Chicago Park District's facilities also offer a variety of fitness classes such as circuit training, conditioning, kickboxing, Pilates, yoga and aerobics.
Following the January promotion, the Chicago Park District will offer free yoga classes in early February at various sites throughout the city.
