Wounded motorist crashes on Kennedy

The victim is 31-year-old Kendall Rogers. He underwent surgery and is currently in stable condition. Police say the shooting started because of a fight earlier early Thursday morning at a restaurant.

The white Lincoln town car was headed north on the Kennedy when it crashed into the wall that separates the local and express lanes near Ohio Street. Before the crash, the driver had been shot in the chest, stomach and arm.

Police say the driver and a female friend had been eating at a restaurant earlier that morning when a group of men started making inappropriate comments to the woman. She says there was a fight, then some of the men followed them in their car onto the Kennedy.

It was near the Chicago exit when a car drove up next to the Lincoln and someone started shooting. The 31-year-old driver was hit several times and the car was riddled with bullets. The 19-year-old female passenger was not hit.

Police have interviewed the female passenger to try and come up with a description of the men who were involved. So far police have no description of the shooter or the vehicle. At this hour no one is in custody. Illinois State Police are handling the investigation.
