Candidates endorsed in state's attorney race

However, Allen was not the only candidate in the race to pick up an endorsement Sunday.

Alderman Howard Brookins of Chicago's 21st Ward is now endorsed by fellow Alderman Isaac Carothers, Congressman Danny Davis and a number of other elected officials who gathered at a restaurant on the West Side Sunday morning to make the announcement.

Meanwhile, at the Union League Club Sunday afternoon, Prosecutor Anita Alvarez picked up the support of Lt. Gov. Pat Quinn.

Current Cook County State's Attorney Dick Devine is supporting his second in command, Bob Milan.

Cook County Commissioner Larry Suffredin is endorsed by the Chicago Sun Times and Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr.

Also in the race is Tommy Brewer, a private attorney from Evanston.

The winner will take on Republican Tony Peraica, who is running unopposed.
