Vitamin C could indicate stroke risk

The amount of vitamin C you have in your body may be a good prediction as to whether you are likely to suffer a stroke, , according to a new study in the American Journal of Medicine.

Researchers say vitamin C in the blood is a good indication of fruit and vegetable consumption. Many nutrients in these foods are thought to be biologically protective against stroke.

As for which fruits and vegetables pack the most protection, researchers are still trying to figure that out. In the meantime, they say, it's best to eat a wide variety and to aim for five to nine servings daily.
