WILMINGTON, IL High water has washed out Kelly Road in Wilmington.

A car was stranded in the rushing water Tuesday. Police say the driver tried to get through the water but didn't quite make it. Firefighters had to pull the driver from the car. He was not injured.

There are also some reports of flooding near the Kankakee River in Wilmington

Flash flood warnings were in effect till late Tuesday night for southwestern Will and east central Grundy counties.

The freezing weather has caused ice jams on the Kankakee River. The jams have forced the river out of its banks.

Some roads were blocked and the water was approaching homes. Some of them had to be evacuated.

Warm water has been released from the Dresden Power Plant in an effort to heat the river and melt the ice dams.
