Thursday, doctors will reconstruct areas around his jaw which have been compromised following previous cancer surgery. Roger is cancer-free but has been unable to speak since he developed complications which kept in the hospital for months.
His statement, in the Chicago Sun-Times Wednesday morning, says he'll be hospitalized for awhile, but it will be "nothing like last time."
Ever the intrepid film critic, Roger waited until after the Oscar nominations to have the operation. He hopes to be back at his keyboard next month to write about the Oscars.
