Teen charged as adult in police shooting

On Tuesday morning, metal detectors at Wendell Phillips High School found a weapon on 16-year-old Darrius Wilson. The teenager ran off and two security officers chased him.

One of the guards --an off-duty police officer-- reportedly shot and wounded Wilson near the 43rd Street CTA station.

The teenager is charged with unlawful use of a weapon and assaulting a police officer. The Independent Police Review Authority is investigating the shooting.
