CHICAGO --Former Chicago Mayor Eugene Sawyer will be remembered today. Sawyer's family, friends and former colleagues will gather today at the Vernon Park Church of God on South Stony Island for his visitation.
Sawyer, who was Chicago's second African American mayor, passed away last weekend after several recent strokes.
The 73-year-old served as mayor for only 16 months, following the death of Mayor Harold Washington.
