Bar busted for allowing smoking

A bar in Chicago's Logan Square community has become the city's first tavern to be busted for allowing smoking.

A city inspector saw two patrons light up at Helen's Two Way Lounge last week. However, the state law makes it difficult to write a ticket locally. So the bar owner got off on a technicality.

In a few weeks, the City Council is expected to approve a new ordinance which will let the city enforce the statewide smoking ban. It calls for a $250 fine for the first violation.
