On Tuesday, friends and family paid their respects at a funeral home in Salerno's home town of Crystal Lake. His funeral is Wednesday.
Salerno has been the co-anchor of the CBS 2 morning show since September of 2004.
He is survived by his wife and three children.
The driver of the snowmobile has been charged in Salerno's death. The two men were close friends.
