Thousands of senior citizens have signed up to take advantage of the free rides on area public transportation. More than 32,000 seniors have pre-registered for the program, which begins in March.

People 65-years or older in Chicago's 5-county metropolitan region qualify for free rides on CTA, Metra, and Pace. The free rides were a part of a deal between the governor and state lawmakers to fund Chicago area mass transit.
