WAUKEGAN, IL --A malfunctioning modem delayed vote totals in Lake County Tuesday evening.Lake County has about 400,000 registered voters in nearly 500 precincts. An official said a broken modem failed to transmit data from polling places to the county.
The votes were hand carried to the Waukegan office and manually counted by midnight.Fortunately in Lake County, there were no contests locally. Every candidate is unopposed. The presidential nomination vote totals were at stake, however.
