CHICAGO --The plan to build a new children's hospital in Chicago has cleared a major hurdle. The Chicago City Council approved plans to construct the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital in the city's Streeterville community.
The approval includes the hospital's use of a rooftop heliport.
Some residents were against the heliport because of safety concerns.
Pending federal approval, construction for the new children's hospital will begin in 2012.
