Officials at UIC say there is no way to determine if there was a genuine threat.
Further downstate, a student who attends Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville has been charged with carrying weapons on campus.
Police say 22-year-old Stephen Vories had two weapons similar to BB guns in his car along with a knife and Taser. They say Vories also brought a Taser to class in January.
Vories was arrested Friday following a tip from someone who allegedly found threats on his Facebook page.
