Officers carrying automatic weapons will patrol platforms and trains, and bomb-sniffing dogs will also be brought in.
Officials say the screenings will delay passengers only a couple of minutes, which makes it unnecessary to arrive at stations earlier than usual.
The new security measures will be unveiled in the northeast part of the country first, before they are carried out in the rest of the United States.
