Under the plan, the east-west Forest Park route would continue as far west as the Yorktown Mall in Lombard. The committee says that area is underserved by public transportation.
If the expansion of the Blue Line goes on it would be intersected by north-south feeder routes for buses. The project is expected to cost more than $5 billion. Committee members say it would ease traffic on the Eisenhower Expressway and the Reagan Tollway.
This project is in the very early stages.
