After about two hours, police confronted the son -- 45-year-old Joseph Schafer.
Police say an officer shot Shafer when he refused to drop his gun. Schafer was arrested on weapons violation. The officer is on administrative leave.
Bolingbrook man arrested after police standoff
BOLINGBROOK
Police say they were called to an apartment on Drake Avenue Sunday night about a domestic disturbance when they found an elderly man who had been shot. The victim said his son had ordered him out of his home at gunpoint and shot him.
