Man charged after South Side crash with police

Man charged, officer injured in South Side crash

A driver is charged with driving under the influence after colliding head on with a police squad car, and injuring an officer.

It happened at about 10 o'clock friday night in the 39-hundred block of South Morgan.

According to police,Ramiro Salgado, 26, had an open container of alcohol in his SUV.

The officer in the badly damaged squad car was taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries. Police say the officer has been released and is in good shape.

Salgado has also been charged with driving with a suspended license.
