The owner was living in Westchester when the dog disappeared from her back yard seven years ago. Volunteers say she's excited to finally see Lance again.
"She couldn't believe it. They had given him up for dead, so she's beside herself. I would be, too," said Karen Schutt, PAWS Volunteer.
Lance will be reunited with his owner as early as Thursday.
Most of the other 49 dogs that were rescued over the weekend are expected to be ready for adoption Saturday. On its Web site, P.A.W.S. asks interested adopters to be patient until the rescued dogs are healthy enough for adoption. Visit the P.A.W.S. Tinley Park Web site for more information.
