Elgin woman killed in hit and run

CHICAGO Police say Ashely Brown was crossing the street with a friend near the intersection of 74th and State Street. Both were hit just before 1:30 a.m.

After hitting the women, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene northbound on State Street.

Both Brown and her friend were transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where Brown died. The other woman was recovering Sunday evening from a broken leg.

Police say there are reports the driver of the vehicle fled to scene headed northbound on State Street. The incident is under investigation.
