Reebok will pay a record $1 million fine to settle a case involving charm bracelets that contained toxic levels of lead. The athletic shoemaker has already recalled 300,000 bracelets, which were given away with children's shoes last year.

The bracelets were made in China.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission reports a 4-year-old boy from Minneapolis died after swallowing the bracelet's heart-shaped pendant.

The penalty is the largest ever ordered against a business for violating the federal hazardous substances act.
