The cruise line says the extra fee is necessary to make up for higher fuel prices and the weak dollar.
The fee is retroactive, so if you've already booked you'll probably get a bill from the cruise line.
The fuel charge applies to all six of the Carnival lines, including Holland America, Princess and Cunard cruises.
Other cruise lines are also considering adding the fuel fee.
