Payton family promotes organ donation

CHICAGO Members of Walter Payton's family joined Secretary of State Jesse White and organ transplant recipients on Chicago's near West Side Tuesday.

Payton's children Jarrett and Brittany helped create a series of TV and radio public service announcements that encourage people to become organ donors.

The Paytons say this was a labor of love and remembrance.

Nearly 5,000 people in Illinois are currently waiting for organ transplants.

According to the Secretary of State's office… you can do so by going to the website www.lifegoeson.com, any Illinois license facility or by calling the secretary of state's state organ/tissue donor program at 1-800-210-2106.
