A plan that would allow Illinois voters to recall the governor and other statewide officeholders in Illinois passed an important test in Springfield Wednesday. Lawmakers in the House approved an amendment on the recall plan. If proponents got enough signatures, a special election would be held asking voters if the officeholder should be removed and who the successor should be. Governor Blagojevich has endorsed the idea. The bill's sponsor intends to bring it up for a vote in the full House next week.
