Chicagoans get out to enjoy warm weather

Even in spring weather in Chicago has been fairly chilly, but with temperatures reaching into the 60s Saturday, Chicagoans were enjoying themselves outside.

Although much of the grass in the Chicago area is not green yet, optimists still were out in full bloom Saturday.

"I grew up in Chicago. These days are awesome. Hopefully, it stays like this," said area resident Jimmy Lee.

Lee and his friends had their sights set on playing soccer. But, others were more interested in other sports.

"We're enjoying the sun, playing soccer, getting the dogs out," said Jeanette Santiago. "It's crowded."

Just two weeks ago, snow covered the Friendly Confines. In fact, Chicago area residents got their fair share of snow this winter, over and over again. It has been the snowiest winter in 30 years, and it left Chicagoans frozen, frustrated and more than ready for a lazy day in the park or some basketball with the family.

It is nice. You can be outside and play with friends," Robi Brettner said.

Still, Brettner were concerned that winter-like weather could still return.

"I'm pretty sure it's going to come back," he said.

Sunbathers could be seen laying out at Oak Street Beach Saturday. Those are the real optimists.
