No serious injuries in school bus crash

HOMER GLEN, Ill. Police said a car was traveling at a high rate of speed when it collided with the rear of the bus near 159th and Bell in southwest suburban Homer Glen.

Three high school students were in the car. One of the passengers was airlifted to an area hospital, but is expected to be OK. The driver and other passenger were also taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Officials said 54 students from Homer Glen School District #33 C were on the bus, which was stopped at the time of the crash. Five students- ranging in age from 11 to 13- were checked out at the hospital, but are not seriously injured.

No charges or citations have been issued in the case.
