CHICAGO --For the first time, Illinois state police are releasing details about the Northern Illinois University shooter's gun card. According to the Daily Herald, Steven Kazmierczak did not lie on his card application. He marked "no" when asked if he had been "a patient of any medical facility" in the past five years. His parents committed him to a private mental health facility, but that was in 1988.
Kazmierczak killed five students in an NIU lecture hall February 14. He then killed himself.
Kazmierczak applied for his gun permit in December 2006. It was processed.
