Lately, there appears to be a lot of health news about the benefits of caffeine. A new study may have found another.

It determined lab animals given caffeine before exposed to the damaging effect of ultraviolet radiation were less likely to get skin cancer. The study is in the current issue of Cancer Research.

They believe caffeine triggers a process that eventually prevents defective skin cells from reproducing and becoming cancerous. Scientists believe these results could be the same in humans but are calling for clinical studies.

The study is in the journal of Cancer Research.
