Two found dead on church steps identified

CHICAGO The Cook County Medical Examiner's office has identified the dead as Rhonnell Savala of Chicago and Melvin Thomas of Harvey.

Officers say the two victims were walking down South Phillips Avenue near 75 Street in the South Shore neighborhood when someone jumped out of a vehicle and opened fire in front of the Free Salvation Methodist Baptist Church.

The shooter then got back in the vehicle and drove off. It happened at approximatley 9:30 p.m.
