A motorist is dead and another person seriously injured early Tuesday after the car rear-ended a construction truck re-striping lanes on the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway (I-90) on the Northwest Side. The collision occurred in a construction zone near O'Hare International Airport.

The 26-year-old male driver of a car involved in an accident on I-90 at the 3.5 mile marker was killed, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. He was pronounced dead at 1:55 a.m. at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. His identity is being withheld pending notification of his family.

A "serious accident" occurred about 1 a.m. Tuesday in the eastbound lanes of the Jane Addams near East Touhy Avenue involving a construction truck owned by a private contractor and a black Acura car, according to Illinois State Police Tollway District Master Sgt. Harris.

The truck was stopped in a construction zone and was re-striping the lanes when the Acura rear-ended it, Harris said.

The two people in the Acura and were seriously hurt and were initially taken to unidentified hospitals. No one in the truck was injured, Harris said, citing preliminary information.

The accident happened in lanes that had recently been closed for construction, according to Harris.

A "heavy-duty tow" was requested as well as a flatbed truck to tow the car away. All lanes are re-open as of 4:45 a.m., Harris said.

The crash is under investigation by Illinois State Police District 15.
