Exercise may lower premature birth risk

Keeping active during pregnancy seems to help lower the chance of delivering prematurely.

Danish researchers analyzed information on the physical activity of more than 87,000 women over six years. Most of the women who did activities such as swimming, aerobics, dancing, even walking, for a couple of hours a week were less likely to give birth early.

The study supports recommendations that most pregnant women exercise at levels similar to what they did before becoming pregnant.
