Parents urged to vaccinate children

Officials say meningitis -- especially among teens -- has been on the rise in recent weeks. While most people survive, it can be fatal. So health officials are taking action.

"Every child between the ages of 11 and 18 should receive this vaccine," said Dr. Terry Mason, Chicago Health Commissioner

Vaccination clinics are being held on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at two Chicago Park District sites. They are Columbus Park and Douglas Park.

Parents can also call 3-1-1 to find other free vaccination locations across the city.
