Evanston seminary stops admitting new students

Seabury-Western Theological Seminary in Evanston has served as a training seminary for Episcopal priests for 150 years. Tenured faculty has been told their jobs will end in 2009, although the school isn't necessarily closing.

Officials at Seabury-Western say financial hardship is causing them to explore less expensive educational options. The school's dean says it's a matter of bringing theological education up-to-date for the realities of the 21st century.
