PALATINE --Cook County Board President Todd Stroger is backing out of a meeting in Palatine, saying he's concerned about "political grandstanding" by village council members.Stroger was going to attend the event Wednesday night at Harper College to discuss taxes and services the county provides to residents. But he says a change in format would give residents less of a chance to voice their concerns. Some in Palatine and other nearby communities have talked of seceding from Cook County because of the county's recent sales tax increase. They believe it will harm local businesses. ABC7 was unable to get a comment Tuesday night from Palatine officials about the meeting.
