Man shot to death at factory

CHICAGO Police were on the scene at 4500 W. Division Wednesday trying to sort through the scene at the O and G Spring and Wire Forms Company factory, a large facility which takes up two city blocks.

Police say there was a fatal shooting. At least two men were arguing and one of them then left and came back apparently with a gun, which he fired.

The incident reportedly originated with an argument involving a woman who worked at the company with the victim and the suspect.

Family members of the victim gathered in the parking lot of the factory. They are identifying him as 28-year-old Santos Rivera. Twelve-year-old son Santos Jr. joined his mother and grandmother at the factory.

The shooting happened at about 2 p.m. Wednesday. Police took a woman in for questioning while they looked for as many as two known suspects, including the man who worked there and was involved in that original argument with the victim. Police say they are looking for a vehicle related to the crime as well.

Rivera's family is wondering how someone got into the company with a gun in the first place.

"He was working, had his back toward the guy and wore earplugs so he couldn't hear nothing. From our point of view, he just came back from the back and shot him from behind," said the victim's nephew.

Rivera leaves behind a wife and three children.
