Chicago firefighters made several rescues early Thursday morning at a burning apartment building on the city's North Side. Firefighters brought several people down on ladders-- including one woman and her son-- at the apartment building, located in the 5400-block of North Winthrop.

"I was in my bedroom, and he opened up my door and I see the smoke, that's when we went inside to wake up my daughter so we can get out of the building, because we were trapped in the back of the building on the fourth floor," said Antonio Grey, rescued resident.

"I opened the window, knocked out the screen and I yelled for help, and then the firefighters came," said Sherie Taylor, rescued resident.

Three people suffered minor injuries in the fire, which began around midnight. Officials believe the fire is suspicious and are looking for a person in connection to the blaze.
