3 hurt, 7 displaced in Plainfield fire

PLAINFIELD Emergency personnel responded to a blaze at a large farmhouse with several additions at 143rd Street and Steiner Road about 8:10 a.m., according to Plainfield Fire Protection District Lt. Bob Knowles.

All seven residents were out of the house when emergency crews arrived, but a man and two teenagers were taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora with minor injuries, Knowles said.

The fire, which left the home uninhabitable, was extinguished about 2 p.m., according to Knowles, who said the fire was never elevated to an extra-alarm blaze.

The cause and origin of the blaze remains under investigation and the South Suburban Arson Task Force assisted in the probe.
