BRODHEAD, Wis. --
The pilot killed in a single-engine plane crash in Green County has been identified as a 77-year-old Illinois man.The cause of Monday's crash near the Brodhead Airport remains under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board, the Federal Aviation Administration and local authorities.
The amateur-built plane piloted by Dennis Trone of Petersburg, Illinois crashed in Spring Grove Township, 30 miles south of Madison.
The Green County coroner pronounced Trone dead at the scene. The sheriff's department says he was the only one on board. An autopsy is planned for Tuesday.
