Community meeting held on museum move

CHICAGO A community forum was held at the Harris Park Field House as museum officials promote their plan throughout the city.

The alderman representing the ward that includes Grant Park says building in the park is illegal.

A woman who says she's a daycare operator on the South Side says the museum needs to be in a central location like Grant Park.

"Inner city children are not exposed to downtown Chicago. Many of them, if they're not on a school field trip, they do not leave their communities," said Angela Sears.

"it still calls for displacing public land for private use by an institution that charges admission fees," said Ald. Brendan Reilly, 42nd Ward.

The Chicago plan commission is set to consider the latest museum plan next week. If it passes, then it would be considered by the city council next month.
