Trace amount of chemicals found in city water

Officials released the test results Friday night, which they say proves our tap water is safe to drink.. The amount of chemicals found are measured in parts per trillion.

Three chemicals showed up in the tests - a cholesterol fighting drug, a nicotine byproduct and the main chemical found in the bug spray DEET.

But a spokesperson says the amounts are miniscule. He says, for example, you'd need to drink a half gallon of water daily for 400 years to get the amount of the cholesterol drug found in a single pill.
