China earthquake relief

(PRESS RELEASE:)

Dear Members and Friends,

We need your support for:

SICHUAN EARTHQUAKE RELIEF

The Chinatown Chamber of Commerce, along with the Chicago Chinese American community, is organizing massive relief efforts in the wake of the 7.8 magnitude earthquake on Monday, May 12 that has devastated the Sichuan Province in Western China. Over 20,000 people have been killed and more than 150,000 injured, with tens of thousands still missing. The casualty rate continues to rise every day and the death toll is estimated to reach 50,000.

We welcome donations through relief fund accounts at any Chicagoland branches of the following banks: Citibank, Pacific Global Bank, Charter One Bank, Lakeside Bank, and Fifth Third Bank. In addition, Harris Bank will also have an account set up shortly. Relief effort questions may be directed to the Chinese American Service League at (312) 791-0418 (Office of the President) or to the Chinatown Chamber of Commerce (312) 326-5320.

In addition to individual donations, we strongly encourage corporate donations from corporations and businesses. Contributions, large and small, are critical in expediting the relief efforts for the victims and the restoration of regions affected by this devastating tragedy.
