Dark Knight roars through Six Flags

Just in time for the summer, Six Flags over Great American shows off a new indoor roller coaster. The Dark Knight ride is based on the upcoming Batman movie, which is slated to hit theaters in June. It opens to the public on May 21.

The ride takes park guests through the bowels of Gotham City. The Joker is in hot pursuit during the ride- and only Batman, himself, can come to the rescue.

The coaster is housed in a seven-story building and includes six 180-degree hairpin turns -- all in the dark.

The coaster, which cost $7.5 million, is the first built at Great America in Gurnee, Ill., since Superman Ultimate Flight in 2003.
