Reward offered in Chicago man's death

CHICAGO Derrick Franklin, 28, died in March. He was standing in the kitchen of his father's home when someone outside began shooting. A bullet pierced the window and killed Franklin.

Cook County Crimestoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information in the case. Franklin's family is urging anyone with information to come forward.

"It's time to put down the guns and stop the violence. If we stop the violence and try to form together, we can have a community, we can have a neighborhood. But if we don't stand up for each other and say something about what we see, it's going to keep on happening," father Derrick Allen Smith.

Franklin's family marched with the group Ceasefire later on Saturday as they called for an end to the violence in the neighborhood.
