Free trolleys take people to Chicago attractions

The city of Chicago is reminding people there is a free way to beat high gas prices -- take the trolley.Chicago's free trolley system, which connects many of the city's most popular destinations, is now on its summer schedule.

The free downtown trolley connects several landmarks- including Michigan Avenue, Museum Campus and Navy Pier- to the public transportation system- including CTA, Amtrak and Metra. Trolleys operate daily and run every 20 to 30 minutes from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The free Lincoln Park trolley runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends and holidays only Lincoln Park's Free Trolley Route (weekends/holidays only)

Since 2001, the free trolleys have provided rides to more than one million passengers a year.
