Jill Scott's Butterfly Bra

Now the R&B artist has apparently got another kind of hit. Scott www.jillscott.com has designed a line of bras for full-figured women. She has found a new audience for her Butterfly Bra which she designed with Ashley Stewart. www.ashleystewart.com So far, more than 5,000 women have sent emails to the company's website, asking about the Butterfly Bra. "This is a soft, strong, sexy, bra that makes full-figured women wearing it feel soft, sexy and supported." Scott says.

Scott is a full-figured woman who has something in common with many of her fans: she finds it very difficult to find a comfortable, supportive bra. Like many women she has worn two bras at once to get the support and shape she needed. Scott says she often appeared at award shows and concerts suffering from back and shoulder pain. Scott was so desperate to find relief that she was near the brink of surgery a year ago. She felt there had to be something made for her, her friends, her mother, the audience at her shows. But not finding the right product, Jill decided to come up with her own. Working with designer Melfi Jimenez at Ashley Stewart, Jill came up with the Butterfly Bra and started a collection of intimate apparel for plus size women. The line includes lingerie, bras, and night wear. The Butterfly Collection will be available on line and in Chicago area stores in June.

Scott's partnership with the Ashley Stewart stores began with the release of her latest album The Real Thing: Words and Sounds Vol. 3 last September. Sold in all Ashley Stewart stores nationwide, the album, which has now reached RIAA gold for U.S. sales in excess of a half-million copies.

Soon you'll see full-color window-sized posters of Scott in every store. The introduction of the Butterfly line dovetails with Ashley Stewart's promotion of The Real Thing album and sponsorship for Jill's "The Real Thing" tour. The Ashley Stewart Stores Community Foundation also supports to Scotts' non-profit Blues Babe Foundation which seeks to nurture college bound students of color, ages 16-21, artistically and academically.

Blues Babe Foundation has already partnered with Ashley Stewart Stores Community Foundation on the renovation of the Cecil B. Moore recreation center in Scott's hometown of North Philadelphia. Condemned to be closed by the city due to funding shortages, an initial donation of more than $100,000 by the Foundation was able to renovate the auditorium, bathrooms, floors, and swimming pool, and provide new outdoor basketball courts and a new kitchen. With the city's help, the roof was repaired, the gym was renovated and the Center is now a safe haven for many youngsters with attendance more than doubled for most programs.
