For the survey, a panel of health and fitness experts analyzed data on 16 major cities. The ratings are based on personal health indicators, such as the percentage of people who are obese, smoke, or who have exercised in the past 30 days.
The survey all took into account community and environmental indicators such as the number of recreation centers, parks, and other green spaces; and the number of health care providers.
Seattle ranked second, followed by Boston, Washington and Atlanta. Chicago came in 7th place. Detroit was ranked at the bottom.
